The 2007 regionals of the NCAA mens' basketball tournament was held at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis on March 23rd & 25th. Teams and fans from Butler, Florida Gators, The University of Oregon and UNLV flooded downtown St. Louis before the games.
We see gatherings such as these, baseball games, concerts, parades, art festivals and other shows attract large crowds of people where generally few would be milling about.
Missiologists today acknowledge that 99% of the Jewish population and nearly 80% of the worlds gentile population, sixteen million and six billion respectively, are facing a Christless eternity.
We seek to bring the Message of salvation to people from all walks of life so that they might consider Jesus. Alan Butterworth and I had schedules in flux and it was not certain that we could attend. But at noon time Alan indicated we might go. I then sat down at the computer and generated the
attached broadside by 1 pm. It was sent electronically to our office where Ivan Peterson printed 2000 of the broadsides and Alan and I folded them. By 3:30 pm we were out the door and headed downtown, arriving two hours before the first game.
By 6 pm we had distributed most all the tracts and, after praying, headed home.
Yes, even a basketball game can serve as an opportunity to bring the Gospel to Jews and gentiles.
